Divers will find more traditional Caribbean diving in the west of Dominica with spectacular walls, great corals and a wide variety of marine life but without the unique topography formed because of the submerged crater at Soufriere Bay or the boulders at Cabrits NP. Diving tends to less crowded and clustered around Salisbury, off Grand Savane (Grand Savanna), a slope formed by volcanic eruptions ages ago.
The Morne Trois Piton National Park, a World Heritage Site, is home to the famous Boiling Lake, the second largest volcanic crater filled with water in the world. On top of that it is the prime destination for hikers as there are hikes of all difficulty bringing you to lakes, gorges, pools (Emerald Pool) and waterfalls such as Victoria Falls and Trafalgar Falls.
